Story
"Edward's Trust made me feel better when I was sad because my baby sister died inside mommy. When people die it makes their family sad and Edward's Trust can make them feel happy again so I want to raise money for them so more people can be happy. They need more money because coronavirus means more people will need help. I want to walk 10k because that's quite far and I have found out in lockdown that I enjoy walking far."
Those were Benjis (age 8) words on why he wants to support Edwards trust, while doing an activity that he's found an enjoyment for while we've been in lockdown. On his first "long walk" of 5k he set himself the challenge of being able to walk 10k before school restarts for him. So we thought why not make it a sponsored challenge and support an amazing local charity who will be more in demand than ever at the moment!
Edward's Trust is a charity based in Edgbaston who help people facing or surviving a family bereavement. With the tragedy that Coronavirus has brought for so many families, Edwards Trust continue to offer their counselling service remotely. To do this they need funds so let's raise some to allow them to help our communities in this difficult time and beyond.
Edwards Trust was established 30 years ago by the parents of Edward Dent, who just the year before had lost his battle with cancer aged 7 years. Over these years we have supported thousands of children and families, with our support tailored to their individual and family needs. The Trust supports over 3,000 children and families every year in a variety of ways, and the number of new referrals we receive annually has increased to over 600.
