Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Ben Nevis 2014 Challenge page.

Ben Nevis (affectionately known as The Ben) is the highest mountain in the British Isles. This challenge covers over 9 miles of of trekking, up the mountain and back down again. The challenge takes place 26-28 September 2014 and involves: uneven and sometimes slippery terrain, a waterfall, loose stones and boulders, rocky steps and a zig-zag route.

Why do it?

Around 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. Of those 400 are men, it is not a women-only disease. For women the lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is 1 in 8.

Here's how your sponsorship helps:

£2 Provides a suitable headscarf for a woman who has lost her hair during treatment.
£5 Provides a comprehensive, easy-to-understand information pack for someone newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
£10 Teaches someone how to be breast aware for life at a local workshop.
£25 Trains and supports a member of our Nursing Network for a year to help improve the care of people with breast cancer.
£50 Pays for a personal HeadStrong appointment to help women prepare for the possibility of losing their hair from chemotherapy by providing practical support and information.
