Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
I was finally given the ‘ALL CLEAR’ in September of this academic year (this meant that there had been no recurrence of the Cancer since diagnosis), despite experiencing numerous complications after the initial treatment. I wanted to do something somewhat ‘mind-blowing’ to mark the excellent news both I and my family had received; raising money for this Charity was an added bonus. The Ben Nevis Challenge was an ideal outlet which metaphorically represented my own battle since diagnosis. However, I do still have a long way to go before the 5-year mark, but as always I REMAIN POSITIVE AND ACTIVE!
Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in Britain; it rises majestically 1,344 metres (4,406 feet) amidst the hills and Monroes of the Scottish Highlands and is the most famous landmark of Western Scotland. The route up and down Ben Nevis totaled a little over nine miles, but because of the sometimes rocky and uneven terrain the challenge took the whole day to complete; during the time we were climbing, on average another 41 women in this country will have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Care has been working for over 30 years listening and talking to people about breast cancer. They provide accurate, easy to understand information as well as practical and emotional support. They are the only charity working across the UK to provide these services. They are contacted almost TWO MILLION TIMES each year for support and information through their services; these include their helpline, their website and through their publications. All services provided by the organisation are FREE!
Breast Cancer Care are committed to campaigning for better treatment and support for people with breast cancer and their families.
