Story
We are hosting, Ben's Butterfly Ball on Saturday 25th May 2013 at Sopwell House St Albans. We are doing this in aid of Keech Hospice Care Children's Services Luton.
This is in loving memory of beautiful baby Ben, who sadly passed away three days before his first birthday on 22nd May 2012. Ben was always a happy smiley baby and it came as a great shock when he was diagnosed as having a very rare mitochondrial disease Alpers Syndrome. He only managed to survive a further 11 days after being diagnosed. Please take the time to go through our previous just giving page – www.justgiving.com/bens-boat
During what can only be described as every parent’s worst nightmare we were lucky enough to have been put in contact with our local children's hospice Keech which covers the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes area.
We do not have enough space to write how much as a family we feel they have done for us. Keech's staff accommodated us as a whole family including Ben's brother Jack and extended members of the family. It was a place where we were able to make memories together, whether it was swimming in their hydrotherapy pool or making memorable and now very precious keepsakes, like hand casts, hand prints etc. More than anything we could spend the last few days and moments together with Ben as we wanted and not within a hospital.
We are holding this ball on what would have been Ben's second birthday; we want to mark this day as a celebration whilst raising money for this fantastic cause.
Please dig deep and donate. xxx
