London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·

Bereft Bereavement Support was set up in 1999 to fill the need for specialist bereavement counselling and support for the adult residents (over 16s) of the London Borough of Ealing. The death of someone close is a major event which is likely to affect all of us at some point in our life. Coping with the normal responses of grief can be very difficult. Everyone reacts differently. All of our counsellors are volunteers, trained in counselling skills and bereavement issues.

Story

Running the London Marathon has been on my to-do list ever since I volunteered at the event more than 20 years ago. I finally plucked up the courage to enter the ballot and, this year, on my third try, I was extremely lucky and won a place.

Bereft is an amazing local charity that provides low-cost, open-ended bereavement counselling in Ealing. I would bet that most local residents have either used Bereft or know someone who has. I worked for them as a volunteer counsellor for several years and feel privileged to now have to have the chance to help them to carry on their valuable work.

Like all small charities, Bereft runs on a shoestring, Every pound donated through this page matters and will be spent on their mission- to help Ealing residents struggling after a bereavement.

I am loving training to take part in this amazing event and can't wait to be part of it. Thank you for your support :-)
