The Berlin Marathon is an extremely important fundraising event for Macmillan. The money raised from this event goes such a huge way to help people affected be cancer, for example:

• £50 could buy a liquidiser for someone who can't eat solid food.
• £220 could fund 1,000 copies of The Cancer Guide, providing valuable information about cancer, its treatment and care, and lists of helpful organisations
• £1,000 could pay for 10 clothing grants for people who experience weight loss/gain as a result of their treatment.
• £52,520 could fund a Macmillan nurse for one year, providing practical and emotional support for people living with cancer and their families.
• £293,000 could pay for the Macmillan Benefits Helpline for one year, enabling staff and volunteers to ensure that cancer patients are receiving the benefits and financial support that they are entitled to.
• Approximately £2.5million could pay for a day oncology unit (depending on size, location and facilities)
