Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I'm running the Great North Run half marathon (13.1miles/21.1kms - arrrgh!) for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
JDRF funds research into finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the pancreas stops producing insulin. Insulin allows the body to convert food into energy. Multiple daily injections are required to supply the body with insulin. It is quite different to type 2 diabetes which is much more common and has different, lifestyle related causes. As most of you probably know, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was a child and have been living with it now for nearly 20 years.
You can learn more at the JDRF website:
I'd be really grateful for any donation you can make which I'm sure will give me the second wind I think I will need when I'm 11kms into the run with another 11kms to go!
This is a secure site and is the most efficient way to sponsor me. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will receive your money fast and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Overseas donators can also donate using this site.
So please sponsor me now, however much or little!
Thanks for your support.
