Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The challenge has now been completed and I would like to Thank all those who made a donation and who supported me through this amazing journey. The Charity are just delighted with the money raised and I know it will all be used to further support the great work they do at the Childrens centre in Watford. The run proved tough on the day, due to the very warm weather. I had aimed to complete the run in 4:45, but crossed the line in 5:26. Just happy to get it done in the end, as it truly is the toughest challenge I have even taken on. If you want to see one of the photo's at the end. It is on this page. Just click on it :-)

My Story is simple, as is my aim for Watford Mencap.

I have already completed a half Marathon for Mencap, with my girlfriend Julia last September, and I know for sure that any money raised is greatly appreciated and needed to carry out the marvellous work this charity does.

I lost my dear sister Patsy in November 2009 but she remains close to my thoughts and I know she would be happy to know we are helping to support this charity.  Patsy was born with Downs Syndrome but lived her life knowing she was truly loved and supported by our devoted parents.  Patsy had so many challenges throughout her relatively short life and although she could not communicate with speech she did touch the hearts of many people.  Mencap were a great source of support for my parents, particulaly in the early days and I could not think of a better charity to support.

I am running 26.2 miles, so my task is to try and get myself ready for what seems a very difficult challenge at the moment.  This, however, pales into insignificance when you think of the challenges those with mental health problems have to face on a day to day basis.  By giving here I hope we can make those days a little easier.

I am aiming to raise £1500 which I know will provide Watford Mencap with some valuable funding to provide even more support to the local community.  So please dig deep into your pockets and give to this very worthy cause.

Thank you so much
