Story
Beryl McLean, who was one of the founding Trustees of Smile Malawi, sadly passed away on Sunday 18 October, aged nearly 89 years.
Rather than giving flowers, we decided it would be appropriate to remember Beryl with a memorial fund to help support a cause that she was so involved with. We have set up this page to accept donations in Beryl's memory and hope that we will be able to use the funds to develop the project in Malawi to give a permanent memorial to a very sweet, generous lady.
Beryl accepted her position as trustee with enthusiasm to help her daughter Elspeth Baecke in the early days of the charity. Even though Beryl was never fit enough to travel to Malawi, her interest in the people of a country 6000 miles away was truly genuine and she loved seeing the photos of progress and watching videos of the children singing.
She was a great advocate of the charity and told the story to everyone who passed her way and her wise advice was appreciated by everyone connected to the charity.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
