 In April last year Abbey, my friend of 20 years was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was told she was in remission in the October after surgery, chemo and radio therapy. 6 weeks later, after feeling ill she was told the cancer was back in her liver and brain. She was told with treatment she might have 18 months to live, she started aggressive treatment immediately. She kept her chin up even during chemo and awful radio therapy. However On the 16th February I got a call to say she had been admitted to hospital there was nothing more they could do.

Rushing to the hospital and having to say goodbye to my gorgeous crazy friend was one of the saddest, hardest things I have ever done and hugging her children and father as I left that day, even harder. Every bit of me hopes she knew i was there. 

She died 2 days later with her  three children and her mum and dad, at the age of 40. I hid under the duvet when the phone rang that morning, knowing what the phone call was about, not wanting it to be true.

Cancer impacts everybody and I am sure everyone has a story of someone in their lives who has been affected. So what better charity to do a load of really tough, painful, running for ??

So i am going to run for my friend Abbey, for memories of drunken nights, climbing through dog flaps, watching Buffy and laughing, a lot.  I am hoping a load of friends will walk, run or bike with me over 14 weeks from September.  These include: Dan  Hitchin, Lucy Skinner, Sara Redmond, Jemma Rankin,  Laura Harris, Sharon Wyper, Sally Dalton, Jo Lomax, Lou Threaplton,  Becky Turner, Suzie Cawrey, James Rodd and I thank them all so much for being so fabulous !!
