Uganda volunteering expedition 2022

Volunteering In Uganda · 9 November 2021
Play Action International is a UK registered charity and international NGO, working to enrich lives through play. We do this by providing vulnerable children with play facilities and play based learning programmes, enabling them to gain all the developmental benefits that play has to offer and the tools for future success.
I chose to volunteer for Play Action International this summer, as I believe that play and play based learning are both vital for social development throughout society. Above this, travelling has always been an ambition of mine and the best way to experience and learn about other cultures is to work directly with the individuals and the community.
The 2 week expedition is focused on building a playground for the community, however also involves community interaction and learning about their culture and their environment. We even work alongside the charities apprenticeship program which employs disadvantaged locals, and gives them training in vocational careers- such as building! On top of this, there are opportunities to explore the local environment and landscapes which are just off the edge of the Nile.
If you can donate- please help me support this incredible charity- to give you an idea of where your money is going I've outlined it below!
- £5 provides a game board to encourage learning through play
- £15 provides a drum set for children to dance and enjoy music
- £30 provides tyre safari animals- not only for the children but also to encourage recycling used materials!
- £50 provides the children with a seesaw to play on together
- £100 funds for play-based sessions for parents and children
- £1000+ funds for an entire adventure assault course!
