Story
Hello!
Firstly... I AM RUNNING TOUGH GUY in order to raise money.... this is a massive challenge, so please sponsor me - you can sponsor me on this page or the other page.
THANK YOU for taking an interest in my expedition to Nepal and visiting this page!!
Here is a brief overview of my time in Nepal, skip to the blue sections for information on donations and the charity .
16th August 2012 I head off on my adventure in Nepal. After adjusting to the exciting city of Kathmandu and fighting some serious jet lag, myself and my 24 team mates will head to Pokhara in the Annapurna National Park for our trek.
We will be doing 14 days of trekking for 7/8 hours each day surrounded by the almighty Himalayas, led by local Nepalese guides. The climax of this incredible experience will be at the highest point of our trek - the Annapurna Base Camp where we shall bask in the glory of our arrival and the sensational surroundings!!
After a 25 person long massage train we shall get onto the most important reason for the expedition; our work with 'Future for Nepal'. This charity was actually set up by a Durham graduate and is therefore closely tied to our team of 25 Durham students.
There is lots of good information about what happens to the money
(I hope) you have/will donate,
on the website; (http://www.futurefornepal.com/).
We will be living in homestays with the locals, so are currently learning about their culture and a few simple phrases in order to be as helpful and polite as we can. During the days we will be teaching at a local school and helping to improve their teaching facilities for future use. This will be a thoroughly rewarding experience which I am really looking forward to!
Our final few days will be a great chance to unwind and enjoy a culture so different from our own in such a striking setting. We will also be spending 2 days white water rafting for one last adrenaline rush, before returning home on 20th Sept 2012.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Well done if you made it through my wordy explanation of my expedition next summer to Nepal! I am very excited and am glad to have shared this with you, I will keep this page updated with any fundraising events and photos so feel free to revisit (and donate).
Any size donation will help me, to help the small Nepali communties.
The cost of the expedition is £2800, half of which goes directly to the charity, the other half is my personal costs. Any money donated here goes directly to the charity. DUCK is our university charity committee where the money I raise must be kept track of.
Thanks again!
Feel free to ask me any questions.
