Story
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
Covid-19 has affected the lives of almost everyone, but imagine how scary those changes must have been for people living with dementia, many of whom will live in care or nursing homes, and will not have been able to see their family or friends as normal. The Alzheimer’s Society is a charity focussed on Britain’s biggest killer- Dementia, which aims to help make society more dementia friendly and dementia aware.
Awareness is not only key to removing stigma and promoting fundraising around Dementia, but can also help individuals know the early signs of this disease so that help and treatment for friends and loved-ones can be sought at the earliest opportunity.
I’m doing this event, not as a personal challenge (although my feet may feel differently by the end, especially if we have another heat wave!), but to try and raise awareness of Dementia and the Alzheimer’s Society. As such, any donations to what I see as an amazing and much needed charity would be whole-heartedly appreciated.
