Bethany Tries to Run 5K For NICHS

My mum, Linda, suffered a stroke in February 2020. It was a terrifying time, and once she got home from hospital NI Chest Heart and Stroke were incredible! They organised a lot of her physio, occupational and speech therapy, alongside sending nurses out to ensure her mental wellbeing was recovering too. Once lockdown occurred they began organising Zoom classes for stroke survivors which have been a real life line for mum while she has been shielding. She looks forward to the socialising and craic she has in these classes.
Now anyone who knows me knows that I basically cannot run the length of myself. I've been doing the Couch to 5K app and it's been hellish so 5K probably doesn't sound far but it's plenty for me!
The work NICHS do for survivors of strokes and other debilitating conditions is incredible and I hope by my trying my best to run a 5K in a reasonable time that I can raise some money and that other families will benefit the way we have.
