Story
Pancreatic cancer is something I had never known until this year. Yet, this year, I’ve seen so much damage caused that dragging myself along a footpath for two days is the absolute least I could do.
We’ve all seen the likes of Steve Jobs, Alan Rickman, and Patrick Swayze be taken from us far too soon by this cruel disease. But this year has opened my eyes. Some may know that my Nan is now being cared for by the oncology team at the Royal Berkshire hospital after a mass was found on her pancreas in September. Right now, she isn’t being treated, but right now, she is surviving. Unfortunately a patient I worked with recently, who holds an extremely, profoundly fond place in my heart, was not so lucky. We do not know what the future holds but positivity is key, and being proactive can only do good, right?
I want to make sure that nobody goes through what that patient went through, and I want to make sure that my Nan continues to live her best possible life for as long as she possibly can. Pancreatic Cancer Action are working hard to make this possible.
So there we have it, hopefully I’ll get through the equivalent of 2.5 marathons, and you’ll all donate some cashola to spur me on, and hopefully we can all go some way to making a difference!
Pancreatic Cancer Action are a national charity dedicated to saving lives by improving early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and the quality of patient survival. with your help we fund vital research, create medical education programmes, produce national awareness campaigns and vital patient information.Together we can make a difference!
