Campaign by Refuge (RCN 277424)
Team Refuge will be taking on TrekHER50 to raise funds for the UK's leading charity for survivors of domestic, sexual and gender-based abuse.

Story

I must be a bit mad, but in October 2022 I will be taking part in the TrekHER50 challenge to raise money for the charity Refuge. For this challenge I will be trekking for 5 days through the Himalayas and visiting local projects to learn and spread awareness about women’s rights in India.

Domestic abuse will affect 1 in 4 women at some point in their lives and 2 women a week are killed by a current or former partner in the UK, statistics which have got worse since the onset of the pandemic. Refuge is a vital charity which supports women and children who have experiences domestic abuse, and has been a lifeline for people in the 50 years since it was established. Financial support for charities such as this can make the difference between women and children having a safe place to go, or staying in the dangerous hands of their abusers.
