London Marathon 2022 · 2 October 2022 ·

On Sunday 2nd October, a group of Team StCH runners will be taking on the iconic London Marathon to raise money for their local hospice.

Story

My original plan to run London and Brighton marathons has been sidelined for a while for various reasons, BUT London Landmarks Half Marathon beckons on 2nd April. This time, I hope to actually enjoy myself! A time goal this time of under 2:30 instead of “just get round!”

When we were little, my Grandma volunteered in the coffee shop at St Catherine’s Hospice, so even before we really knew it, it’s been fondly thought of for us. Dad ran 2004/2005 London Marathons both raising money for the Hospice, and it was watching him that I really thought I’m going to do this.

In 2013, Grandad spent some time in the Hospice. All the memories from that time for us are special. For his birthday, the wonderful staff did everything they could to make it a celebration for us - he might not have been able to enjoy the cake and the bubbles but we all did! Again at Christmas time we were given the chance to celebrate. Sadly, grandad had to move on as he’d out stayed his welcome, but we’ll never forget the efforts The Hospice put in to his, and our care.

Please, donate what you can to keep these special touches going.
