Story
I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t take mental health as seriously as I should.
The turning point for me was when I saw how it affected the ones you love the most.
My partner Beth has suffered with her mental health for a long time even before we met. I’ve seen her at her worst and knowing that escaping your own head and thoughts can be a near impossible task in those moments
The saving grace for both myself and Beth was knowing whatever condition she got in on her bad days, seeing her around our Cats and Dogs and the love and affection she gave them let me know the real Beth was still there. It was like witnessing love as the best medicine
Her compassion and care for animals is inspiring and she’s always said to me if she won all the money in the world she would build a giant sanctuary for unwanted and abused animals and any that just needed a new home.
I took this challenge on from the day we got engaged. My wedding gift to her is the one she unknowingly has done for others. All of this in her honour and acting purely on her behalf.
I want all credit for this to be acknowledged as hers
I committed to doing as much as I could to try and raise money and awareness for the places that have been already caring for these animals day in and day out.
She even said she wanted to donate to Bath cats and dogs home instead of spending money on wedding favours for our guests.
The final figure isn’t the main objective, it’s knowing the amount of support from people with the same morals and principles as hers, shows how big a simple idea in principle, can grow into making such a change. One that she would do if she had the resources to do.
We get married on 2nd April 2022 and all will be revealed to her on what she has inspired over the last 2 years.
Keeping this quiet from her has not been easy …..
