Story
I’m taking part in Endometriosis UK’s #WalkForEndo challenge which is about walking 8km in solidarity with those with #endometriosis who wait an average of 8 years for a diagnosis in the UK.
I’m walking because 1 in 10 women suffer with Endometriosis & I want to help raise awareness & vital funds to help ensure Endometriosis UK can continue its important work to fight for those living with this chronic disease.
I’ll be walking 8km each week for 8 weeks during July & August & will be kick-starting the challenge on Sunday 11th July with an 8km walk from Penarth to Cardiff.
I was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2015 after many years of various gynaecological symptoms & nearly 3 years of struggling with infertility.
I needed two laparoscopies to resolve the issues Endometriosis had caused me internally & this was thankfully followed by two healthy & happy little girls 💛💛
As Endometriosis is a life long condition my symptoms unfortunately started again about a year ago & last month I had my third laparoscopy - so fitness levels aren’t as good as usual for this challenge!
It’s very unlikely that this will be my last laparoscopy as there is no cure for Endometriosis. My darling daughters are also 10 times more likely to have this disease & so my hope is that the understanding, diagnosis & treatment for Endometriosis will start to improve for them & all young girls that may grow up with this debilitating whole body condition.
Please help me with this by donating what you can or let me know if you’d like to join me for a #WalkForEndo
