Dear Family and Friends,

I suppose I’d better begin by telling you why on earth I have decided to undertake this huge challenge that lies before me – running the 2010 London Marathon!

Well, it all started many many years ago… When I was younger the London Marathon was always an annual viewing event on the telly, mostly because my Dad would be watching it, but as I got into my late teens I always thought it would be amazing if one day I could be a part of it.

Over the past few years, more and more of my friends (not to mention my brother) have been running marathons and I have always felt a tinge of jealousy… And now on the brink of turning 30 (I will be 30 by the time of the race), I have decided it is now or never! 

Not believing for one minute that I would ever be able to run for 5 minutes, let alone 5 hours, I’m currently training 3 times a week, with Sunday mornings being taken over by my longer training sessions.

Now a bit about the charity I have chosen to raise money on behalf of.  Kisharon provides the Jewish community with vital support for hundreds of people with learning difficulties and their families. Kisharon provides support for each individual to develop their potential and live a fulfilling life within the community. 

Being a teacher myself I can appreciate the importance of the work that Kisharon does and how much the children benefit from the amazing staff at the centres.  Kisharon aims to enable the individual to cope with his/her difficulties which in turn enables them to develop their potential, which is something we would all want for our children and loved ones, with or without disability.

I know that any amount of money you sponsor me would be gratefully received by Kisharon no matter how small or large. I’m training hard now and can promise you that I’ll give my all in the 2010 London Marathon to say a huge thank you for your support.
