Story

I am  swimming from Gosport across the Solent to Ryde on the Isle of Wight as part of The Big Splash Sea Swim to raise funds for Cure Parkinson’s.

I have worked with people with Parkinson’s as a physio for well over a decade. I have also seen how the condition has impacted on family members all my life. Parkinson's Disease is a progressive neurological condition which involves the loss of dopamine producing cells in the brain which controls movement and makes day-to-day activities difficult.

Parkinson's is largely controlled through medication and whilst currently there is not a cure, Cure Parkinson's is a leading Parkinson's medical research charity, and is totally committed to slowing, halting and reversing the condition.

Exercise plays a key part in an individuals management plan. I have been truly inspired by individuals commitment to daily exercise and their positive attitude to live the best life they can despite challenges they face in their everyday. My job is to help people with Parkinson’s  be active, confident, empowered and positive. This event represents all of these elements to me. The condition is tough, but so is this Positively Parkinson’s Challenge!Thank you for your support.
