Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am a nurse working at Burnham Health Centre and run for Burnham Joggers. I have been given the opportunity to run the London Marathon on the 17th April by Burnham Beeches Rotary Club. They have asked me to support the Rotary 'End Polio now' campaign which is an extremely good cause.

In 1985 Polio was endemic in 125 countries and 1000 new cases reported every day. Since that time Rotarians from around the world have been working hard to eradicate polio. Today they have nearly achieved this, with the exception of India, Afganistan and Nigeria. However these countries had less than 1500 new cases reported in 2008.

More funds are needed to support national immunisation days which will fund operational costs such as transportation, vaccine delivery, training of health care workers and support surveillance.

Please help by sponsoring me in the marathon : every £1 will immunise 5 Children and every penny will go towards ending Polio.

Thank you very much
