Story

I'm taking part in Brew Together to support Bowel Cancer UK. All the money raised will help stop people dying of bowel cancer by funding vital services and lifesaving research.

I was always very fortunate to share  my birthday celebrations with my mum (mine 10th, mums 11th April ) This year, wow! how fortunate that we were both getting a whole Easter Bank holiday weekend to enjoy our celebrations.!! (We bragged about that a lot)

On my birthday this time last year during an hospital appointment I attended with mum, we was delivered the very devastating news that mum (for a second time) had cancer, only this time it was stage 4 bowel cancer.

We left the hospital that day, 10th April 2019 absolutely devastated, shocked and heartbroken because mum had already previously rang the Christie bell to celebrate the completion of her (non related) cancer treatment.

As we left the appointment that day mum gave me very strict instructions that we were to “put it behind us today” because it was my birthday and this was not going to get in the way. As hard as that news was we gave our birthdays of 2019 our very best shot to enjoy our celebrations. (if only I would have known it was to be her last 😢)

Fast forward from that day and after a very brave attempt to fight with all her heart and strength my beautiful Mum sadly lost her battle in December 2019

11th April 2020, Mum should be celebrating her 69th Birthday (this lockdown Easter weekend) but sadly it isn’t the case.

But I know for sure that if we wasn’t in a lockdown and mum was still here that we would be out celebrating and at some point of the day we would have found a beautiful little teashop somewhere for a lovely afternoon tea (and scones of course)

Well I’m not going to disappoint her and so In her memory because April is also Bowel Cancer Awareness Month I invite you all to join me for a brew together at home.

You can join in with me on Mums Birthday Saturday 11th April at anytime by either phone, Messenger  Whatapp, Skype Twitter, Facebook etc or by simply sending me a photo of you with your cuppa. (Though a chat and a cuppa would be nice)

All I ask is if you would kindly donate whatever bit of change (price of a brew maybe!) so you can help towards people beating Bowel Cancer!

Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer diagnosed in the UK.

Although very sadly Mum’s Cancer was found and diagnosed at a late stage, if found and diagnosed early Bowel cancer is treatable and curable and nearly everyone diagnosed at the earliest stage will survive bowel cancer.

So please don’t ignore the symptoms ! Get yourself checked out.

Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo

A persistent and unexplained change in bowel habit.

Unexplained weight loss.

Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason.

A pain or lump in your tummy.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to a virtual cuppa and a chat on the 11th with you! (and /or a gin on the 10th if you like)

Take care! ,Keep smiling!

Stay Home!

Happy Easter!

Thank you for your support

Lots of love Bev x x x x
