Hadrian's Wall Hike · 19 September 2014

English Heritage cares for over 400 historic properties, over 300 of which are free to visit. Your generosity ensures that as many people as possible can enjoy the buildings, landscapes and objects which tell the story of England now and into the future.

Story

I've been lucky enough to be chosen to represent the Yorkshire & Humberside region of HASSRA (my employer's Sports and Social Club) on a 30 mile sponsored walk along a beautiful part of Hadrian's Wall in aid of English Heritage.

Everyone who knows me will know how much I love both walking and my passion for our beautiful English countryside so I'm really pleased and excited to have been chosen to take part in this event!

Walking is really important to me, I walk miles every week whatever the weather....2 years ago I was morbidly obese, but I joined Weight Watchers in March 2012 and lost over 8 stones to get to goal in 15 months - walking played a huge part in this and I continue to walk as much as I can.

Here are some more details of the hike I'll be doing - http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/support-us/donate/how-you-can-help/hadrians-wall-hike/

I have to raise £450 to take part in this walk, HASSRA have very kindly donated £100 each to the 12 of us chosen to take part in this event leaving me with £350 to raise by November 2014 so please help if you can, every donation will be appreciated no matter how small.

The money raised will go directly to English Heritage who work so hard at preserving our beautiful countryside for future generations to enjoy.
