Southampton Marathon 2022 · 24 April 2022 ·

Natasha Lewis (Tash) was much loved and hugely inspiring and was tragically killed in a car accident while out running in April 2021. To honour Tash’s memory The Natasha Lewis Foundation was created to help develop aspiring athletes achieve what she no longer can.

Story

7th April 2021 was a day that the world changed forever. My incredible and beautiful friend Tash was tragically hit by a car and killed while out on her morning training run.

28 years of age, she was a much loved daughter, sister, fiancé, friend and personal trainer. She was a truly special person who impacted so many people’s lives and her loss is indescribable.

Tash was the person who helped me to get into running, and encouraged my competitive side!! She even convinced me to go in the ballot for the 2019 London Marathon, to which I didn’t get a place, much to her disappointment!

Since the start of this year I have been training for the Bath half alongside a friend who had signed up for the Southampton marathon. After joining her for a couple of longer runs I thought sod it. I’m going to do it! So I went home, and signed up to run the marathon too. With a big smile on my face knowing that I  would be running it for Tash and be able to raise money for her foundation, and continue to help aspiring athletes achieve their dreams.

The charity was set up in Tash’s name and is there to help empower and support aspiring athletes to become the best they can be, just like Tash. Providing funding for things such as kit, race entries, coaching, gym access and physiotherapy. The Foundation is currently supporting 5 Bath Athletics Club athletes and will go on to support many more with our help.

Training for a marathon is tough, mentally and physically. I always knew she was a machine but Tash really was something else running the miles that she did week in, week out.

I am hoping to cross that finish line knowing that she is there somewhere with me, proud of what I have achieved in her memory.
