Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am taking part in my first Marathon to raise money for The Blood Pressure Association in memory of my late father Bhogi (Bob) Vegad. High Blood Pressure affects 1 in 3 people in the UK and can cause strokes and heart attacks. In can be hereditary and is responsible for over 125,000 strokes and heart attacks in the UK per year - these can be minimized by educating the general public about the importance of blood pressure to health.
Those of you who know me well will be aware that running is one of my least favourite things in life; unless I'm running after a football I'm really not that interested. So it should actually be a barrell of laughs just to see me crawl over the finish line so please dig deep into your pockets for donations!
To amuse you all even further, I hope to be training like a Trojan Warrior and hope to lose plenty of weight and limiting the number of nights spent drinking beer and eating curries - I'll be keeping you all up to date with my progress and hopefully there will be progress because I don't want to be looking like Ferenc Puskas doing 20 laps of Wembley (see pictures for visual).
As with most fundraising cases, there driving motivation behind all of this of course; on the morning of Saturday August 23rd 1997, my Dad passed away aged just 44. He suffered a heart attack after living with high blood pressure for a number of years. There are many factors which can contribute to high blood pressure; bad diet, smoking, lack of excercise, stress - sometimes it can simply be hereditary. The Blood Pressure Association is a vital source of information and encouragement to the millions of people with high blood pressure and most importantly giving them guidance so that they're able to lead a long and healthy life.
My Dad has missed his children growing up, their graduations, the birth of his grandchildren and most importantly he is missed by his family - please donate what you can so that we can raise awareness of The Blood Pressure Association and the good work it carries out.
