Today I ran the Race for Life, with my amazing SIL Stacy Shopland, in memory of my dad, Doug (or Big Doug as we all knew him!). The race was at Taunton Racecourse and as I ran down the home straight I thought of how only 18 months before he would have been there cheering on the winners (or tearing up his betting slip in rage!). Life is a mad journey for all of us and I don't think I have a single friend whose life hasn't been affected by cancer. I never for one moment thought it would so randomly and suddenly take Big Doug from us, but that's what it's like. Random and horrible. He had a great life for which he was hugely thankful but I just wish he'd been able to see his wonderful grandsons, and any future grandkids (err Stacy that's down to you - I'm DONE!) grow up a bit. I'm aiming to raise just £50 for Cancer Research so even if you can give a quid I will be hugely greatful. Thank you - to everyone who has supported me in any way. Love you lots, Vic xxx
