Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Did you know that the dental health situation in Brazil is alarming. Data from the national survey of households, revealed that 22.5 million Brazilians have never been to the dentist. - Source Compassion UK.

To work towards combating this, Barrow Baptist Church  are organising 'The Big Bike Challenge 2018 - Miles for Smiles' to raise £2,550 to provide dental screening and care for 338 children (aged 3-14) who attend the Projeto Nova Esperance Child Development Centre in the Sao Domingos community of Brazil.

Many children have excruciating pain and a high degree of tooth erosion making it a challenge for them to attend school and centre activities. Average family income is equivalent to £41 a month and therefore dental care is not a top priority.

We are partnering with Compassion UK who will ensure the most in need get dental care

There are three teams taking part in 'The Big Bike Challenge'.

(1) Welsh Coast - cycling 300 miles over three days (ouch!), from Barrow on Soar the Welsh coast...and back again!

(2) Local Loops - cycling 50 miles a day for 3 days, visiting local sites of interest including Rutland Water, Holme Pierrepoint and Staunton Harold Resevoir

(3) Local Ride - A local, less challenging ride suitable for all ages and abilities!
