Thanks for taking the time to visit our Big Love Ball JustGiving page.
No doubt, being giving people, you already know this but just in case....
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
That's the official bit.
The inaugural Big Love Ball, held at Brighton's Old Market on November 14th 2009, raised £17,465.00 for the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. The night was amazing fun and we would like to extend special thanks to our fantastic hosts, Guy Lloyd from Juice FM and Neil Griffiths (M&MR), Simon Langton from Denhams Auctioneers, Steve Ridley for his incredibly moving video, Stephen, Isobel and Ruth at Old Market, businesses who made such generous donations, and of course everyone who supported the cause on the night. We're not professional fundraisers, just three local Mums with day jobs but between our eight children, we have three who would not be here today were it not for this unit so our emotional attachment to this cause knows few bounds. We are thrilled to be able hand over such a substantial amount which, we understand, will buy a new Giraffe rescusitaire with a fair bit left over!
The unit provides intensive care treatment for babies in Brighton and the whole of Sussex. In 2008 there were 524 admissions to TMBU, with 273 babies requiring full intensive care treatment, nearly half of which were gravely underweight or more than three months premature. With the help of charity donations, the unit was able to expand last year but continued fundraising is vital not just to help equip the Unit to the highest standard but also to provide essential support for parents and carers and perhaps critically, remove the need for travel to London for treatment. If you didn't make the ball (tickets sold out very fast - sorry!), maybe consider making a donation right here. Please give what you can. WE KNOW from first hand experience what can be achieved and we thank you for your generosity from the bottoms of our hearts.
Big Love!
