Immunodeficiency UK supports families with primary and secondary immunodeficiency. Immunodeficiency causes partial or full impairment of the immune system, leaving people unable to effectively resolve infections or disease. These disorders can be life-threatening and often need life-long care.

Story

-It has now been one year since our beautiful daughter Bethany was taken away from us, her illness was extremely complicated and the diagnosis eluded many consultants. There is still no exact diagnosis, in spite of months of tests.

A 'Primary Immunodeficiency' has been suggested as the "probable" diagnosis. There are over 300 known types of PID, though the one that has devastated our lives is yet to be defined, leaving us with many unanswered questions.

In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the charity PID UK I am going to dust the cobwebs of my bicycle, train hard and try my best to cycle the route from Aberdaron on the Llyn Peninsula, where we shared a wonderful first holiday with Bethany, all the way to the Gower Peninsula, where we had lovely times teaching Bethany the joys of spending time by the sea.

The ride will be 180 miles, and I will go via Aberystwyth where Bethany was born. My goal will be to complete this challenge in a single (long!) day.

Target date: 28-9-19

I am hoping residual fitness is not just a myth...

I had better stop typing now and get training!

I am going to attempt to use STRAVA to keep a log of my training. If you are interested - you might be able to find me searching: Andy C Bike Ride For Bethany

update 29/8/19

THANK YOU so much to everyone who has sponsored me, I am half way through my training period, half way through my training distances and over half way towards the fundraising target!

All support is really appreciated. This is certainly not an easy challenge (for me) so the encouragement from everyone is certainly spurring me on towards achieving this goal.

Thank you
