"After my mother's death a couple of year's ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Following a consultation with my specialist, I was only offered "active surveillance", basically three-monthly blood-tests and occasional MRI scans to monitor the cancer, with no treatment yet deemed necessary. The PSA level rose to 19.5, at that point I started, on a friend's recommendation, eating apricot kernels, reputedly an effective remedy against cancer. 

The PSA levels had dropped to 14.5! The oncologist called it "good news!" and was agreeable to my continuing with my alternative remedies, while continuing to monitor the situation with regular blood-tests."
