After walking in to A&E in Ysbyty Gwynedd with a pain in my left arm and what felt like indigestion in my chest: I was quickly seen to by a nurse and diagnosed as being in the middle of a heart attack. I was then thrombolised (clot busting drug) and stableised before being sent upstairs to CCU and Glyder wards where I was looked after for the next three weeks before being transfered to Liverpools Broadgreen Heart and Chest Hospital where I underwent surgery that resulted in six coronary grafts being carried out on my heart. I never knew my heart was in such a bad way but I feel so much better now. I will always remember the nursing staffs care, hard work and affection; in my opinion they are the backbone of the NHS, some of us need that little bit extra when your families have gone home after visiting has finished. My aim is to raise enough money to purchase specialist bedside fans for each patient bed and the nursing stations in both Glyder and CCU. This is my way of saying thank you and to help make patients stay in the cardiac wards even more comfortable in the future. Happy patients = happy staff = happy patients. Long may their good work continue.
I am holding two golf competitions at Betws-y-Coed golf club; women's open competition on May 31st and a men's competition on June 7th. All prizes have been donated by local businesses. There will also be ongoing raffles at the clubhouse throughout the summer.
In June I plan to reach the sumitt of the 15 highest peaks in Wales on foot inside 24 hours. I will be looking for sponsorship for each peak reached. I plan to twitter/Facebook my progress during the attempt. The date of the sponsored walk will be posted on Twitter @mylittleevent and Facebook "My Little Event" . The weather is the deciding factor.
