Turquoise Mountain is an NGO specialising in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. We aim to provide jobs, skills and opportunities through heritage in places where culture is under threat. Working in Jordan, Afghanistan, Myanmar & Saudi Arabia

Story

Rev Bill Taylor recently completed a 150 mile walk from Ripon to Oundle with his friend David Wills. They retraced the steps taken by monks who carried Saint Wilfrid's body from the monastery he had founded at Oundle to Ripon after his death some 1300 years ago. Aside from proving to himself that he could still complete a marathon walk (something Bill has been known to do before) he wanted to raise money for the Turquoise Mountain Foundation in Afghanistan. Turquoise Mountain is working to restore the historic centre of Kabul, bringing clinics, schools, clean drinking water and training to Afghan men and women.
