Story

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a catastrophic effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in income. At a time when vulnerable members of society need them most, charities have had to cut services, furlough staff and some have even shut down. Captain Tom stepped up to help, taking on his famous walk to support the NHS Covid-19 appeal and inspiring millions to donate to the cause. My father, Bill Howe will be celebrating the extraordinary spirit of Captain Tom his way and help his chosen charity - Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.

Last year on his 100th birthday he raised the union flag at the village hall in Skelton. In the afternoon he had a memorable drive through Skelton when villagers turned out to wave and wish him a Happy  100th Birthday.

This year on 1st May 2021 Bill be 101 years old and to celebrate and raise money for Hospice at Home he is going to take 100 steps with the help of his walking aid. He is hoping to raise £100 for this vital charity which ensures that local patients can receive care in their own homes whilst also providing support for their families and carers.
