Schneider Electric Paris Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·
Bonjour et bienvenue sur notre page! On 2nd April 2023, Les Garçons de BG (The Boys of Bounds Green) will be running the Paris Marathon for Parkinson's UK. We're incredibly excited (if nervous) to be running our first marathon for a cause that is very dear to us.
Parkinson's disease is a condition in which parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. This can lead to a range of symptoms, including tremors, slow movement, mental health issues, insomnia and memory problems. Parkinson's UK does invaluable work supporting those with the condition, providing clear and accessible information, conducting groundbreaking research, and campaigning for changes in societal attitudes and policy.
This is going to be a *huge* challenge, requiring a hell of a lot of training. We'd really appreciate any donations, no matter how small - it'll be massively motivating for us.
Meet the team:
1. Billy "Couch to 42.195 km" Huband-Thompson - Billy's fitness regime has historically involved walking to the bakery and getting exercised about Liverpool's defensive frailties. The self-confessed weak link is going to have to train like Billyo to ensure he can finish within a respectable distance of his little brother.
2. Toby "Lanky T" Huband-Thompson - Toby hopes that his abnormally long legs will help him narrowly beat his brother over the finish line. Whilst not a stranger to running and familiar with French terrain through his alter-ego Monsieur Toby le Professeur, he knows it will be a challenge to both finish the race and resist the urge to pose with arty french cigarettes in true Parisian fashion during the training period.
3. Kayvon "Player 3" Nabijou - With his 'fitness king' days firmly behind him, Kay will have a lot of catching up to do. Aside from a strict training regime, he'll be working tirelessly on his French in order to confidently order a bière at the finish line.
