Cycling 400 or so round New England in the fall's not exactly an iron man challenge, but then again I am a bit of a lardy arse. Hair & Beauty benevolent isn’t high profile or the trendiest charity on the page but it’s all we’ve got. Some story’s from the benevolent

  Sophie’s mother has bi-polar and has been a long suffering victim of domestic violence, to which Sophie was exposed.  Sophie gradually became more and more withdrawn and became used to seeing her ‘fun mum’ one day and ‘crying mum’ the next (Sophie’s words).

At the age of 10 Sophie moved in with her maternal grandparents as her mother finally agreed she was unable to look after Sophie.   Sophie has some emotional/learning issues and now attends a specialist school.

HABB have supported Sophie since 2009 – her mother was in the hair industry for 5 years on and off before being diagnosed with bi-pola

  Emily, Jack and Claudia Portnell – age 15, 13 and 9 (Somerset)

Their father committed suicide four years ago.  Understandably this had a devastating effect on the family.  Their mother became severely depressed and had to give up her part time job.  The children have spent the last 4 years in a very unhappy household and have not the carefree childhood that most take for granted.

Their mother is undergoing counselling and seems to be more positive about the future.

HABB has supported all three children since 2008 – their mother was in the beauty industry for 11 years prior to the death of her husband

  We almost all have hairdressers but never think what would happen to them if anything untoward would happen. That’s where the hair & beauty comes in.

 So back to the challenge if you would be so kind to dip into your pockets and donate I’ll make it interesting…….. Over £1000 I’ll do the last day as SUPPER MAN…….. Over £2000 I’ll do it as WONDER WOMAN…..
