Step by Step are taking a stand against youth homelessness. We find safe and supportive homes for young people across the South of England, complemented with wellbeing support and lifeskills training. Each year, we empower 1,500 young heroes to strive for a brighter future.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Walking the Camino de Santiago (formally known as The Way of Saint James) has been a long held ambition of mine. The 800 kilometre route from the foothills of the Pyrenees on the french border, to Santiago de Compostela in the western reaches of Galicia has been walked by pilgrims for over 1000 years.  This is a solo, self-funded, self-supported (carry my own bags) trek with all funds raised going directly to Step by Step.

My volunteer work with Step by Step has given me the impetus to 'get going'.  "Over 1,300 people needed our support last year with housing, advice, training, counselling, family mediation and support moving into employment or education, and we helped young people realise their aspirations and overcome barriers like poor mental health, substance misuse and low self-esteem" (Amanda DuBarry, CEO Step by Step)
