Kayla & Phil's Marathon for The Birchall Trust Β· 26 April 2021

The Birchall Trust does incredible work by offering support to anyone aged 4 and above affected by rape, sexual abuse or sexualised violence in Cumbria and Lancashire. What this looks like practically is summarised below. Of course, it is difficult to fit in all the fantastic work that goes on at The Birchall Trust, so please check out the website if you’d like to read more about what they do: https://www.birchalltrust.org.uk/ - Providing face to face and remote trauma-informed counselling services - Delivering play therapy, creative and sand tray therapy for children aged 4 and above - Offering pre-trial therapy sessions to adults and children whilst involved in the criminal justice process - Working with parents, carers, families, and friends of people affected by rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence - Holding group, peer support sessions and offer outdoor therapies - Delivering educational programmes, training, and consultancy to other agencies – voluntary and statutory - Providing digital information and resources - Raising awareness of the wider issues around rape, sexual abuse, or sexualised violence within our community Every single donation is important. Every single donation will support The Birchall Trust, helping to ensure no one has to deal with rape or sexual abuse alone.

Story

I recently relocated to Cumbria and was very lucky to be offered a role working for the The Birchall Trust.

The Birchall Trust is an amazing charity that provides counselling / play therapy to children & adults who have been affected by rape and sexual abuse.  This year marks the charity's 30th Birthday, so myself and my partner Phil are going to complete our first marathon (privately organised) to raise money and awareness!

This will be a huge challenge for me as at the beginning of the first lockdown I could not even run a mile! As it stands setting up this page, I can comfortably run 10km (6.2 miles) and have 5 months to train to run 42.2km (26.2 miles) - eek!

We are going to complete the marathon in one go, on a day (to be confirmed) in September 2021. This will be a hilly trail run, the route will be shared nearer the time 🏞️

Thank you very much for your support 😊❀️
