We have funded over 100 research projects tackling many forms of cancer. In 2012 we opened a dedicated clinical trials centre at Leicester Royal Infirmary to offer patients access to new medicines and therapies. We also fund two nurses who add to the care and support trials patients receive.

Story

Bitteswell Cricket Club are holding a memorial cricket match to remember our Chairman and close friend Peter Smith, who for the last six decades has worked tirelessly to provide cricket for our local community.

He played, coached and prepared the pitches at Bitteswell devoting hours of work to ensure that the local cricketing community, young and old, could enjoy the sport he loved.

He was known across the Leicestershire cricket community and was liked by all, whether you were a team mate or an opponent. For the last 10-20 years Big Pete has been pivotal to the development making a massive contribution but sadly, last year he was unexpectedly taken from those that knew and loved him.

The memorial match is focused on raising funds for Hope for Cancer, a Leicester based charity that is close to the hearts of both Pete's family and all of us at Bitteswell Cricket Club.

We hope you can find a small something by way of a donation to support our chosen charity when we mark Pete's memory with The Andy Smith Allstars Vs Bitteswell Cricket Legends on Sunday 2nd July 2023.
