This is why, this year we are launching a Where's Wally? virtual run! You can still show your stripes for literacy and earn your Where's Wally? finisher's medal and goody bag!

Story

We are showing our stripes for literacy, by taking part in the National Literacy Trust's Where's Wally? virtual run!

British Land has partnered with the NLT for 10 years. We have been running the Young Readers’ Programme with the NLT across our sites for 10 years, encouraging kids to read for enjoyment. During the pandemic, we have also helped the NLT provide a package of learning support to families most in need, distributing books and activity packs via food banks.

On the weekend of 20th/21st March, British Land staff will be running or walking 1k, 5k or 10k. Every penny we raise will help change the life stories of disadvantaged children in the UK. Children born in communities with the most serious literacy problems have some of the lowest life expectancies in England - with the biggest gaps being 26.1 years for boys and 20.9 for girls. They start school 19 months behind their peers, and are held back at every stage in their lives. They are twice as likely to be unemployed aged 34 and three times more likely to have mental health problems as adults. Your support makes all the difference, and means that the National Literacy Trust can continue their work to close this literacy gap, and change life stories.
