Story
We are a salty bunch who get together for our weekly vitamin-sea fix by swimming at high tide at Dale, Pembrokeshire.
This July & August, we have decided to collectively swim a virtual Murshidabad 81km Open Water Swim - one of the world's longest open water swims.
We are raising money for the millions of families who are in desperate need as a result of Covid in India and Bangladesh.
The world's Covid pandemic is plunging the most at-risk families in the region into even more dire circumstances. Family for Every Child's local Changemakers have been working with children and families in the region for many years and are now seeing an urgent need for critical help.
Your donation will help people today, by providing:
- Food for children whose families are in distress
- Food for Covid patients in hospital
- PPE kits to reduce further spread of the virus
- Access to oxygen and vaccinations
Why we need your help
Your donations will go directly to critical front line support.
- £20 will provide three N95 masks each, for five children
- £50 will provide two PPE kits each, for four essential services staff
- £100 will go towards food and essentials, vaccinations awareness programmes, and travel to a vaccination centre for ten families living in one of the remotest areas in India

How we will do it
The Murshidabad Open Water Swim has been organised annually
since 1943. It is among the Top 50 Open Water Swims in Asia and the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims. Usually taking place in August, with a distance of 81km (50.3 miles) it starts from Ahiron Barrage Ghat on the Bhagirathi-Hooghly ‘Ganga’ River, a distributary of the Ganges River, and finishes at Gorabazar Ghat. Competitors come from all over the world.
Swimming for us is about exercise, friendship and community. It has brought us together through this difficult time and now we want to do something to help others.
