Blockley Friends of the School Association...
Blockley friends of the school support Blockley C of E Primary School by raising funds to support education progress and academic success. In previous years, we have provided funding for additional maths resources, new reading scheme books, new ICT equipment and upgrading the school WiFi system. This year the school asked us to support a new outdoor project to improve, maintain and develop the forest school area and the introduction of an outdoor teaching space.

It's been difficult to fundraise in 2020, as cake sales, nativities and discos cannot go ahead as usual. So, instead, we're really excited to bring the whole community together at the end of a challenging year, while raising some much-needed funds. People from all across the picturesque village of Blockley village have been busy crafting, decorating, and lighting displays outside their homes for you to enjoy while taking a stroll; we hope you enjoy the event.

The Trail... Grab a hot chocolate or a mulled wine from our local shop, café or pubs and take a walk through the winding streets of Blockley, hunting for the elusive gingerbread men. We've highlighted over 60 of our favourite, festively decorated windows, walls, doors, gates and trees on our trail map, and each of these locations will display one of our cute gingerbread man signs. There is lots to see whenever you choose to walk the trail but if you are lucky enough to visit at dusk, the lights will shimmer and shine. Watch out for 6ft illuminated gingerbread figures in the Church yard, an ice-skating gingerbread man at the school and a very special bus-shelter. Don't forget to look out for the gingerbread men holding letters too, to solve a puzzle and be in with a chance of winning a hamper of treats, in our prize draw. Please follow current government guidance in relation to COVID-19 and stick to the public footpaths and roads as you enjoy the trail.

The trail runs from 12th December 2020 to 2nd January 2021.

The Map... You can download a map below, which will show you where to go and what to find. We really appreciate your support and suggest a minimum donation of £1 per person. Every little helps though and we would be delighted to receive each and every donation. If you love the trail as much as we do, please donate what you can and share the fundraising link with friends and family.

The map highlights parking options and where you can buy refreshments.

How will my donation help?

Because this is a whole community event, we have pledged to share 50% of our profits with local charity, Cotswold Friends who support older and vulnerable people across the North Cotswolds, reducing isolation and supporting independent living. They help with Community Transport, Befriending, Carer Support and Community Activities.

The remaining money raised will contribute to improving, maintaining and developing the forest school area including the introduction of an outdoor teaching space: an open-sided but covered area to host whole class outdoor learning.

The FAQs... Please go to www.blockleyprimaryschool.co.uk/the-team/fos for more information on safety, accessibility and how to get the most out of your visit to the Blockley Gingerbread Trail.

The important bits... The event takes place in a natural environment with variable lighting and weather conditions, and passing traffic; please walk responsibly with due care and attention, as you would on any other occasion.  Please follow the latest government guidelines relating to COVID-19 at all times and read the information at www.blockleyprimaryschool.co.uk/the-team/fos to get the most out of your Gingerbread Trail experience.
