Blood Bath's Saheliya Fundraiser · 31 May 2020

We are a mental health and well-being support organisation for black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker and refugee women and girls. We promote well-being by combating effects of discrimination, abuse, reducing the stigma of mental health, and improving access to mainstream services and education.

Story

In their own words, Saheliya “supports and promotes the positive mental health and well-being of black, minority ethnic, asylum seeker, refugee and migrant women and girls (12+) in the Edinburgh and Glasgow area. We aim to develop our clients’ self-esteem and confidence and reduce barriers such as isolation and depression, by using a holistic range of services including counselling, practical supportbefriending, complementary therapies, outreach, group work and Young Saheliya.

Saheliya was established by and for Black and Ethnic Minority (BME) women to support BME women living with, surviving, or at risk of, mental well-being problems resulting from racism and other discrimination and oppressive cultural practises.”
