Story

About 12 months ago I answered 'that' telephone call, no one wants to receive, "your dad's in hospital and the outlook is grim".

Dad had been on medication for some time to thin his blood but somehow the experts got it wrong and almost all his blood was now gone from circulation, we were told it's goodbye.

Luckily the hospital was able to infuse him with new blood, the Doctor was amazed at his recovery, and approx 1 year on, he's in his 94th and doing fantastic.

On the May Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday past I cycled with a great friend Mike Burns, friend of Brian Maxwell, who heads up the fundraising, in a group of 10, from Cambridge to London to Tunbridge Wells to raise money and awareness for BLOOD BIKES a charity raising money to purchase motorcycles to transport emergency blood supplies from hospital to hospital all by volunteer riders, day and night.

The need has now increased to urgently move life saving breast milk to hospitals to save prematurely born babies lives. It's amazing to find out that very vulnerable little babies rely on tiny amounts of milk and charity to survive.

Mike has negotiated with the Police to purchase used motorcycles from the police for £6,000.00 each.

Now the bit I hate most, can you muster up £100.00 and if 60 do so, we can purchase a bike. Blue have purchased 1 already but my goal is 4 bikes, 2 by Blue Companies, Including Blue Spares and Fuchs, and 2 by our loyal customers and friends. My goal is over 2 years but sooner the better. Unfortunately emergencies 'Don't, Won't,Wait'.

All bikes are sign written so when you see an emergency Blood Bike, look for the Blue Group logo and get satisfaction that YOU have contributed and made this happen.

100% of monies collected goes to getting the job done, NO Salaries, NO Waste, ALL Volunteers. I have now signed up as an on call volunteer rider, 2 nights per month to transport blood from hospital to hospital and am awaiting my training to get started.

Many, Many, Thanks.
