On August 4th, an enormous explosion obliterated the port of Beirut within the capital city of Lebanon. It has been reported that at least 100 people have been killed and a further 4,000 people are injured. These numbers are likely to continue to rise. The devastation to the city and to the people can not be understated. The eastern part of Beirut's port has been totally destroyed, and buildings across the city have been severely damaged, including hospitals.

By chance, the day before the explosion our Chief Blooming Officer, Jake Friedman-Kenshole, was talking to Beirut-based artist, Jad Saintbai. And so, when he saw what had happened, he reached out to Jad to see if he and his family were okay... luckily they all were! 

They then went on to discuss the lack of western media attention regarding the issues that Lebanon is currently facing (including the societal problems happening even before the explosion). Unfortunately, Jad knew of many who were suffering worse than himself and as a result of Jake becoming more informed, they both wanted to do something about it. 

So, Jake offered Bloomer's services to Jad, pledging to raise more awareness and donations for the support of Lebanon. In trying to do so, we are promoting Jad and his artwork across our socials. One of Jad’s paintings will also be up for grabs for whoever makes the largest donation by the 21st of September! 

Nevertheless, please donate any money to this worthy cause, as the Red Cross is doing some brilliant work to try to help them through this troubling time. Let’s come together as a creative community and help ease the pain that so many Lebanese families are experiencing.
