🎈 We are Blowsoc, the University of Nottingham's wind, brass and percussion society and this is our Online-aganza! During this time of uncertainty and isolation, we wanted to find a way to make music together and to share this with others to spread some cheer and positivity. We chose one of our favourite pieces, a selection of melodies from Disney's film 'Up', depicting an epic tale of adventure, perseverance and the importance of family and friends.

💸 Initially, profits from our Blowsoc Bonanza concert were going to go directly to charity but this unfortunately had to be cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. We thought however that we could still try and raise money with the Online-aganza!

🎺 Matthew Hollingworth is a maths student who has been a very active member of Blowsoc throughout his time at university — in fact, he was elected to be Brass Band manager for the 2019/20 academic year and has done a fantastic job!

🏥 Unfortunately, after having had shoulder pains for some weeks, shortly before Christmas he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of cancer. The cancer has since spread to his lungs but he is currently receiving treatment and we are looking forward to having him back in Blowsoc as soon as he’s recovered!

🦠 We have chosen to fundraise for Teenage Cancer Trust who have been big supporters of the ward where Matthew is receiving treatment. Teenage Cancer Trust aim to offer support for young people going through cancer treatment in the UK. They provide a whole host of services, from specialist cancer units to support events and activities.
