At Bluebell Wood, we care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. It costs around £6.7m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive 17% Statutory funding.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I've launched my unofficial 1-2-1 campaign with the approval of Bluebwell Wood & in memory of Darcy Jo Burke who passed away aged 6 having being diagnosed with an inoperable Diffuse Pontine Intrinsic Glioma (DPIG), with the support of her family.

The campaign is to raise money to enable the hospice to carry out the invaluable work it does, with the child under their care and also the family that need their support in such difficult and tragic times, effectively creating more 1-2-1 time in the hospice by maintaining the funding levels they need.

In the spirit of 1-2-1 I will undertake 4 challenges this year, 1 run, 2 cycle rides, followed by 1 mud run, 1-2-1 so to speak.

The 1st event will be the Yorkshire Half Marathon on the 12th April, which coincides almost 2 years to the date Darcy was diagnosed with her inoperable Diffuse Pontine Intrinsic Glioma (DPIG)

This will be followed with the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire sportive on the 3rd May, 140km around West Yorkshire, closely following the pro route and taking in some epic climbs

The 3rd event is the 115 mile Tour of the Peaks, a 1 day event taking in the toughest climbs the Peaks can offer including the notoriously steep Winnats Pass. This takes place on the 17th May.

The finale is the Yorkshire Tough Mudder, described as the Toughest Mud Run on the Planet, and Yorkshire at the top of the list. This event takes place in the 1st August.

So that's 2015, 4 great challenges for a fantastic charity, Bluebwell Wood Childrens Hospice, in memory of a beautiful, fun loving little girl sadly taken from this world at such a young age

Please if you can support this appeal it would be massively appreciated by the family of Darcy Jo and the hospice.
