Marathon for Meningitis

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
My story:
I contracted meningitis at only 10 days old. My parents recalled how I was very sleepy and refusing to feed. After a post-natal visit from the midwife, I was rushed to hospital and given a lumbar puncture which confirmed I was very poorly and had meningitis. My parents were told to stay overnight as the doctors weren’t sure if I would survive the night. Luck was on my side and I went on to make a full recovery thanks to the swift action of the NHS.
Therefore, I'm running the London Marathon to generate awareness of the infection and to raise money for Meningitis Now who can support further research into vaccinations and help people rebuild their futures with specialist support.
As it is my first marathon, any support is appreciated - whether that is a donation or just some words of encouragement!
I'll post my training updates on here weekly so hopefully I can make it round the the 26.2 mile route by October!
