2020 has been an unprecedented year, with a worldwide pandemic affecting pretty much everyone. Whilst the Government have strived to protect the nation at all costs by imposing strict restrictions, the byproduct of this has been the growing numbers of people who have suffered from mental health on a daily basis.

Mental health is rife in today’s society, and some of us are lucky enough to have support networks and some are not. Even with the support network that I personally have, I have had many days during quarantine where I struggled to find a sense of purpose when waking up in the mornings. I can only imagine what it is like for those who are not blessed with a support network, to discuss thoughts and troubles ever-present in their day to day lives. 

This is why I have decided to set a personal challenge in the bid to not only raise funds for a brilliant charity but also to raise awareness so people are aware that there are so many different outlets that they could utilise during their troubling times. I will be challenging myself by walking 10 miles a day for 10 days, totalling 100 miles all in all. Not only do I want to raise funds and awareness for charity, it will provide myself with a sense of purpose and motivation each day I set upon my walks! 

MIND are a charity that provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

I will be starting my challenge of walking 10 miles each day from Wednesday 6th January onwards for 10 consecutive days until I hit the 100 mile mark... Wish me luck!
