The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.

Story

This event took place between 3rd and 7th November 2009, commencing in Arbroath, Angus - the home of 45 Commando Group Royal Marines - and completing at the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge.

The event pushed all participants to their physical limit, demonstrating the same qualities required in their formative years of training and service in commando units. The march involved movement by road and cross-country covering 210 miles over 5 days, carrying 30lbs.

It was organised by former Royal Marine Commandos who are keen to provide practical assistance to wounded former colleagues through the raising of funds that will benefit them in their rehabilitation from wounds suffered in service.
